Lorsque j’étais au lycée, il y a de cela quelques années, ma meilleure amie d’alors dessinait toutes sortes de paysages au crayon bic. J’étais toujours bluffée par le rendu. En découvrant le sublime travail de Marjorie, une artiste bordelaise, j’ai tout de suite eu envie de partager ses créations avec vous.
Fascinée par la précision quasi documentaire de ses dessins d’animaux, je lui ai alors proposé un petit partenariat pour offrir l’une de ces jolies créations pour les fêtes de fin d’année.En discutant avec elle, j’ai fait la connaissance d’une jeune maman passionnante et très impliquée dans tout ce qu’elle entreprend. Toutes les créations qu’elle nous proposent sont mûrement réfléchies et pensées…
When I was in high school a few years ago, my best friend at that time drew all sorts of landscapes with pencil bic. I was always in awe of her creations. By discovering the sublime work of Marjorie, a Bordeaux artist, I immediately wanted to share her creations with you.
Fascinated by the almost documented precision of her animal drawings, I asked her if we could offer one of her beautiful creations for the Advent calendar and we have enjoyed some lovely conversations since and got to know each other a little bit better each time – which brought me to the realisation that I needed to interview her properly and bring her to the attention of you! Où as-tu grandi? Est-ce ta ville natale?
Je suis née à l’île de la Réunion d’un père Réunionnais et d’une mère Lyonnaise j‘y ai grandi jusqu’à mes 18 ans puis je suis arrivée sur Bordeaux ma ville d’adoption mais ma famille paternelle y est toujours, je suis d’ici et de là bas…
Quel a été ton parcours avant Mr Naturaliste? Mr Naturaliste représente-t-elle une activité à plein temps ou exerces-tu une autre activité par ailleurs
Après des études de graphisme et de communication, j’ai travaillé pendant 8 ans dans la publicité comme Directrice Artistique tout d’abord salariée puis en free-lance. Je suis, ensuite, devenue chargée de communication et graphiste dans la fonction territoriale pendant 4 ans. C ‘est pendant la dernière année de cette activité que naît un besoin obsédant de dessiner.
Depuis juillet j’ai quitté mon travail dans la fonction territoriale et décidé de lancer Mr Naturaliste (Marjorie Renard Naturaliste) et de me remettre en free-lance, j’ai donc 2 activités.
Quel métier rêvais-tu de faire quand tu étais petite?
Je rêvai d’avoir une papeterie, j’adorai les cahiers, les stylos…
Where were you born? Did you grow up there?
I was born on the Reunion island to a Réunionnais father and a Lyonnaise mother. I grew up there until I was 18 and then I arrived in Bordeaux, my adoptive city, my paternal family is still there , I am from here and there…
What were you doing before creating of Mr Naturaliste? Is Mr Naturaliste a full time job for you or do you have another job otherwise?
After studying graphic design and communication I worked in advertising for 8 years as an Artistic Director, first as an employee and then as a freelancer. Later I became a communication officer and graphic designer for 4 years and then into the civil service. It was during the last year of this role that an obsessive need to draw arose.
In July I left my work in the civil service and decided to launch Mr Naturaliste (Marjorie Renard Naturaliste) and get back into freelancing, so I now have 2 jobs!
Which job did you wanted to do when you were a little girl?
I dreamed of having a stationery store, I adored notebooks, pencils etc…
Comment vois-tu le développement de Mr Naturaliste ?
J’ouvre les bras à toutes les belles rencontres que je fais depuis le lancement de la marque et je m’y abandonne, j’ai de nombreux projets en développement qui m’excitent terriblement !
Peux-tu te décrire en 3 mots?
Rêveuse, déterminée, amoureuse…
A quoi ressemble ta journée type?
Elle commence à 8h30 une fois que les enfants sont à l’école, puis la journée se partage entre poses artistiques et développement commercial, entre rencontres et instagram puis 17h30 retour des enfants ! (et là je planque tout !) Puis le soir dessin.
Ton travail influence-t-il ton look? Si oui, de quelle manière?
Non pas vraiment!
Quel est selon toi l’accessoire de mode le plus important de ton dressing ?
Le sac à main!
Quelle est la pièce de votre dressing dont tu ne te sépareras jamais?
La petite robe que je portai quand mon mari m’a demandé en mariage…
Vis tu en maison où en appartement ?
Quel est votre style en déco? A quoi ressemble votre appart’ (ou maison)?
Nous vivons dans une maison.
Nous aimons le mariage de la pierre, du verre et du métal avec du mobilier Kartell, Sentou et des pièces d’art océanique papou.
Quelle est le meuble (ou accessoire déco) dont vous êtes le plus fiers et dont vous ne vous séparerez jamais?
Une sculpture d’une maternité de la tribu des Mentawai* en bois
Quels sont tes projets pour 2017 ?
Trouver des distributeurs de jolies boutiques pour distribuer Mr Naturaliste et développer les partenariats et collaborations.
Quel est le meilleur conseil que l’on t’ait donné ? Et le pire?
Le meilleur : N’ais pas peur.

Une petite robe en piloupilou toute douce et bien chaude pour dessiner bien au chaud.

How do you see the development of Mr Naturaliste?
I am open armed to all the beautiful encounters that have come my way since the launch of the brand and I linger myself there, I have many projects in the pipeline that excite me terribly!

Dreamy, determined, in love…
What does a typical day look like for you?
It begins at 8:30 am once the children are in school, then the day is divided between artistic poses and commercial development, between meetings and instagram then at 5:30 pm the children return! (And there I hide everything!) Then the evening of drawing arrives.
Does your job influence your style ? If so, can you tell us how ?
No, not really!
What is the most important item of clothing in your dressing?
A hand-bag
Which is your dressing’s item that you would never get rid of ?
The little dress I was wearing when my husband proposed…
Do you live in a house or an apartment?
What is the style of your home inside and out?
We live in a house. We love the marriage between stone, glass and metal with furniture from Kartell, Sentou and Papuan’s ocean art pieces.
What is the furniture/decoration accessory that you are the proudest of?
A wooden sculpture of a pregnant woman of the Mentawai’s* tribe.
What are your projects for 2017?
Find distributors who have pretty boutiques that would like to distribute Mr Naturaliste and develop partnerships and collaborations.
What is the best advice that you have received?
The Best : don’t be afraid!

What will be your next purchase just for you?
A little dress in flannelette all soft and warm to draw in the warmth.
