Depuis bien avant la naissance de mon Petit Pois, je scrute le net pour trouver des boutiques en ligne qui proposent de jolies choses pour les kids mais avec un supplément d’âme. Je serai tentée de vous dire que je fais ça depuis toujours mais à 41 ans, on a connu le téléphone à cadran et le minitel… Donc non. Mais c’est un peu l’effet quea
Et puis je me suis demandée qui étaient les personnes qui se cachent derrière ses e-stores. Parce que quand la sélection est belle, originale, novatrice, qu’elle raconte quelque chose, je me dis que celle – ou celui, je ne suis pas sexiste – qui en est à l’origine doit avoir quelque chose à raconter!
C’est avec cette curiosité que j’ai proposé à la créatrice de la boutique Yellow Flamingo, Marie Estelle de répondre à mes questions. En garant ma petite voiture devant chez elle, je pensais que j’allais lui prendre tout au plus une heure de son temps pour lui poser quelques questions. Je n’imaginais pas une seconde que je passerai finalement plus de 3 heures en sa compagnie à parler bébés, famille, organisation de travail. Comme moi, elle travaille chez elle, ses journées rythmées par les horaires de sa fille et ses soirées par la préparation des commandes de la journée!
Marie-Estelle, c’est une super maman qui attend patiemment l’arrivée de sa deuxième fille et qui nous régale de ses coups de coeur et de ses découvertes via sa boutique en ligne depuis bientôt 3 ans…

Anyway, then I wondered who are these people hiding behind these e-stores? Because when the selection is so beautiful, original and innovative when it says something to us, I think that she – or he, I’m not sexist – who created it must have something to tell!
It was with this curiosity that I put some of my questions to Marie Estelle, the creator of the e-shop Yellow Flamingo, in the hope of getting some long overdue answers!
While I was parked in my little car outside of the front of her house, I thought to myself that I would not take up more than an hour of her time to ask her some questions and get to know her better. However, I did not imagine for a second that I would spend more than 3 hours in her company talking about babies, family and work organisation.
Like me, she works from home, her days rhythmed by the schedules of her daughter and her evenings by the workload and orders from the day!
Marie-Estelle is a super mum who is waiting patiently for the arrival of her second daughter. She also has created a beautiful and successful space where she has shared with us her favourite creations and discoveries via her online shop for almost 3 years…

Où as-tu grandi? Est-ce ta ville natale?
Alors je suis née à Bordeaux et j’ai grandi dans une petite ville pas loin de Bordeaux. Je reste d’ailleurs très attachée à mes racines bordelaises.
Quel a été ton parcours avant Yellow Flamingo? Yellow Flamingo représente-t-elle une activité à plein temps ou exerces-tu une autre activité par ailleurs
Dans une autre vie j’étais opticienne. J’ai toujours aimé la création c’est pour cela que je travaillais chez un opticien qui proposait des montures de créateurs.
Yellow Flamingo est désormais mon activité à plein temps, mais je m’occupe aussi de ma petite fille Victoire qui a 5 ans et très bientôt de sa petite sœur.
Quel métier rêvais-tu de faire quand tu étais petite?
J’ai très peu, voir aucun souvenir, de ma petite enfance. Par contre un peu plus grande je voulais être pilote de ligne, j’ai d’ailleurs même pris des cours de pilotage . Pas très glamour, j’ai pendant très longtemps était garçon manqué. OUI OUI !
Where were you born? Did you grow up there?
I was born in Bordeaux and I grew up in a small town not far from Bordeaux. I remain very attached to my Bordeaux roots.
What were you doing before creating of Yellow Flamingo? Is Yellow Flamingo full time job for you or do you have another job otherwise?
In a former life, I was an optician but I have always liked creation and design which is part of the reason I worked at an optician boutique who offered designer’s frames.
Yellow Flamingo is now my full-time activity, but I also take care of my little daughter Victoire who is 5 years old and very soon of her little sister.
Which job did you wanted to do when you were a little girl?
I have very little, even no memory at all, of my early childhood. On the other hand, when I was older, I wanted to be an airline pilot, I even took flying lessons. Not very glamorous, for a long time, I was a tomboy. YES YES!
Comment vois-tu le développement de Yellow Flamingo ?
J’aimerai vraiment continuer de faire découvrir de nouvelles marques à mes clients ! Et dans un futur très proche le site va se refaire une petite beauté afin de devenir plus fonctionnel.
Peux-tu te décrire en 3 mots?
Ce sera un seul mot : Entière
C’est à la fois une qualité et un défaut chez moi. pas de demi mesure, c’est blanc ou c’est noir.
A quoi ressemble ta journée type?
Je n’ai pas vraiment de journée type, car cela varie beaucoup en fonction de l’emploi du temps de Victoire.
Mais je ne suis pas du matin du tout donc mon temps de travail est plutôt après 20h.
Ton travail influence-t-il votre look? Si oui, de quelle manière?
Le mien non mais celui de ma fille oui !!! Je suis tout le temps plongée dans l’univers de la mode enfantine donc forcément son armoire est bien plus remplie que la mienne.
Quel est selon toi l’accessoire de mode le plus important de ton dressing ?
C’est une bague Dinh Van qui ne me quitte jamais.
Quelle est la pièce de votre dressing dont vous ne vous séparerez jamais?
Un perfecto en cuir de chez Ba&Sh.
Vis tu en maison où en appartement ?
Quel est votre style en déco? A quoi ressemble votre appart’ (ou maison)?
Depuis peu nous avons acheté une immense maison dans le beaujolais.
Moi qui aimais tant la ville finalement je revis depuis que nous sommes à la campagne.

Une jolie console chinée aux puces du canal à Lyon.

UN BEBE !! Prévu pour Mars. C’est déjà pas mal.
Quel est le meilleur conseil que l’on t’ait donné ?
Je n’écoute que moi (caractère de cochon) donc je ne sais pas répondre à cette question.
Quel sera ton prochain achat plaisir juste pour toi?
Je suis déjà dans la déco de la chambre de mon bébé. C’est pour le bébé mais pour être honnête c’est à moi que cela fait plaisir.
Quel est ta playlist du moment?
En ce moment j’écoute un vieil album de Diane Birch.
A quoi ressemble votre dimanche matin idéal?
Dormir, un bon petit déjeuner, et un petit tour aux puces en famille.

I would really like to continue introducing new brands to my clients! And in the very near future, the site will get a small freshen up in order to become more functional.
Can you describe yourself in 3 words?
It will be one word: uncompromising…
It is both a quality and a defect in me. No half measure, it’s white or it’s black.
What does a typical day look like for you?
I do not really have a typical day because it varies a lot depending on Victoire’s schedule.

Not mine but my daughter’s wardrobe, yes !!! I am immersed all the time in a world of children’s fashion so necessarily her wardrobe is much more filled than mine.
What is the most important item of clothing in your dressing?
It’s a Dinh Van ring that never leaves me.
Which is your dressing’s item that you would never get rid of ?
A Ba&Sh’s leather perfecto.
Do you live in a house or an apartment?
What is the style of your home inside and out?
We recently bought a huge house in Beaujolais.
Me who loved so much living in the city, I have found a new breath since we live in the country.

What is the furniture/decoration accessory that you are the proudest of?
A bargained pretty console at the Lyon’s canal’s flea market.
What are your projects for 2017?
A BABY !! Expected in March. That’s a pretty big one.

I listen no-one but me (nasty/strong character) so I do not know how to answer this question.
What will be your next purchase just for you?
I’m already in the decoration of my baby’s room. It is for the baby but to be honest it is for my pleasure also.
