24 Nov Emile et Ida imagine le White Friday (ou comment donner du sens à une journée shopping!)
Traditionnellement AUX US, le black Friday est la journée de soldes monstres qui suit Thanksgiving, journée d’Action de Grâce (la traduction française). Pour la petite info « culture », l’histoire de Thanksgiving a commencé le 26 novembre 1620, quand des migrants anglais arrivés en Amérique ont mis en place trois jours « de remerciement à Dieu » pour l’obtention de récoltes abondantes et le fait d’avoir survécu aux épidémies. Quid des dindes ? La présence des volatiles, consommés à l’échelle de 45 millions par an à l’occasion de Thanksgiving, dans la tradition, viendraient notamment des dindes sauvages apportées par les Amérindiens qui furent particulièrement accueillants avec les « Pilgrims ».
Cette tradition permet à nos cousins d’outre-Atlantique de se réunir, au delà de toute appartenance politique religieuse ou raciale, en famille ou entre amis et de se rappeler ce pourquoi ils sont reconnaissants les uns envers les autres, envers Dieu, Allah, ou même la vie…
Très honnêtement, j’aurai presque préféré que l’on s’approprie cette tradition (je passe volontairement le côté repas de 3 heures autour de la dinde et sièste match de foot pour digérer), plutôt que la journée de soldes qui la suit… C’est pourquoi je voulais vous signaler la généreuse initiative de la marque Emile et Ida.
En effet, pendant toute la journée du 24 – aujourd’hui donc! – la marque organise dans la boutique des Abbesses une opération « White Friday » : une belle excuse pour aller faire du shopping. « Mais Chéri, j’ai fait une belle action puisque les bénéfices de la journée iront aux Restos du Coeur!!! »

Quite honestly, if we had imported this tradition (I voluntarily neglect to talk about the 3-hour meal around turkey and nap football game to digest), rather than this day of sales that follows this moment of gratitude … That is why I wanted to point out the generous initiative of the brand Emile and Ida.
Indeed, throughout the day of 24 – today so! – the brand organizes in the Abbesses’ shop an operation « White Friday »: a nice excuse to go shopping. « But Honey, I did a nice action since the benefits of this day will go to the Restos du Coeur !!! »
